« 10 ways with Very Lazy Garlic »

For many of us, life is just too short to be chopping fiddly cloves of garlic. It takes for ever – and the smell it leaves behind on hands and surfaces seems to last forever! So why not try the ultimate kitchen shortcut – Very Lazy Garlic!

This ready chopped garlic can be used straight from the jar – allow one teaspoon for each clove of garlic needed in your dishes – and hey presto, no mess or hassle. Just dinner faster!

Very Lazy Garlic is a super versatile store cupboard essential. We have come up with 10 ways to use up the jar, but we’re sure you can think of dozens more...

  1. Flash fry shell-on cooked prawns with Very Lazy Garlic, chopped chillies, and a dash of sherry and olive oil. Serve with lots of bread to mop up the garlicky juices.
  2. Make cheat’s chicken kiev by stuffing chicken breast pockets with Very Lazy Garlic, butter and parsley. Coat in egg and breadcrumbs and bake.
  3. Add a spoonful to egg fried rice or Chinese noodle recipes for an instant flavour hit.
  4. Marinate diced lamb in Very Lazy Garlic, olive oil, oregano and lemon juice, then thread onto skewers and grill. Serve piled into pitta bread pockets.
  5. For an almost instant pasta supper, simmer canned tomatoes with Very Lazy Garlic, onion and dried basil until reduced. Toss through cooked pasta and top with grated cheese.
  6. Shake together oil, lemon juice, Very Lazy Garlic and mixed herbs and drizzle over salad for an instant dressing.
  7. Nothing can beat the heady aroma of that retro dinner party dish garlic mushrooms! Spoon into large flat cups with a knob of butter and seasoning and bake until bubbling.
  8. Mix with cubes of rustic bread and sprinkle with sea salt before baking in a hot oven for the crispiest, tastiest garlic croutons.
  9. Pound up a couple of anchovies, add a spoonful of Very Lazy Garlic, a squeeze of lemon and a dollop of cream or yoghurt for a punchy dip.
  10. Mix with finely chopped fresh basil and sea salt then add parmesan and a good glug of olive oil. Use to perk up pasta, stir into soups or spread on chicken or fish before grilling.
